“Good relationships bring peace of mind and peace of mind, brings success”. I sometimes wonder if John Wooden framed this quote keeping DCSMAT in mind because the serenity and calmness here somehow seems to contribute to the success of the students. Agreeably, this was the first thing that struck my mind as I entered the beautiful valley of Vagamon, contemplating on whether I should spend two years of my life in the divinely gorgeous DCSMAT. Because while the focal point of most business schools remains to be crafting a masquerade to hide your weaknesses, the folks here focus on building a relationship with their own inner self, identifying weaknesses and finding practical solutions to conquer them. Rather than merely joining hands to cater to our academic needs, DCSMAT helps us to build solid professional relationships that could help us nurture, navigate and nibble our way to a successful professional career. Not to mention the tranquility of this beautiful hilltop that makes you want to sit peacefully, sip a cup of coffee, share your thoughts and crack some jokes with your companions to ease your mind from the little emotional hiccups you may come across.
Speaking of my first visit, I instantly fell in love with the campus here, but it of course wasn’t the only criteria to look into. I checked with people in and out and surprisingly, there wasn’t a single person who gave me a subdued opinion (which made me slightly skeptical), and I kept wondering if the students were actually exaggerating?! But I managed to keep that thought aside as I entered my first class. It was Economics, a subject I could never bear lending my ear to. So to make it sound even mildly interesting was an uphill task for the teacher. To my surprise though, he did exceedingly well in grabbing our attention. The class was enlightening and entertaining, and was without a doubt the most engaging session I attended in a very long time. After all, when your least favorite subject is taught to you in the most exciting way, you know you’re listening to a good teacher.
There was a sense of relief after this, not just to know that the faculty were top notch but to realize that the boys were after all, not exaggerating! And truly, it was a roller coaster ride from then on. Slowly and subtly, DCSMAT transformed me. They polished, brushed me up and carved me into a beautiful masterpiece, an armor without which I wouldn’t have achieved so much glory in my academic career. Winning over 30 Best Manager titles, Public Speaking Competitions and Debates, DCSMAT took me through a path I could never have envisioned in my wildest dreams and I can’t thank the management enough for the immense support they offered. When most people struggled to list out representative specimens of their learning in competitions, I was boldly able to recollect and present facts and convincing statements about various business principles, concepts, controversies as well as success stories, thanks to the Evening Presentations that kept us updated on changes in the field of business and even ethnic and social renovations.
I know my description so far was a little student centric. And one would obviously wonder if teaching textbook lessons is all that happens here. The answer is yes, they’re very particular on studies, but not without presenting opportunities for students to showcase their extracurricular talents, and skills that supplement their academic abilities. And by way of appreciation and arrangement of all possible assistance to hone these abilities, DCSMAT is setting an example in developing the overall personality of the student as well. The SOP program, for instance, has been a fundamental cog in this transformation.
On the whole, DCSMAT is a community that transforms people from within and if I were to cherry pick instances of success that students achieve here, I’m afraid this limited space wouldn’t be enough. All I can say is every person’s life will be graced with opportunities, but to use them, you need the mettle to crack them!!! Some people barely even try. And some are content with what they have, not trying to explore or dig a little deeper to know what lies within. So if you have an innate potential that you believe needs to be explored, discovered or polished, DCSMAT is the right place to be.
